Danny Garcia 'definitely' interested in Keith Thurman rematch

Danny Garcia 'definitely' interested in Keith Thurman rematchDAZN

For Danny Garcia, his July 30 fight against Jose Benavidez Jr. will be a step into uncharted territory.

This will be Garcia's first fight at 154lbs and already some are calling for the former two-weight world champion to land a date with the undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo. However, when speaking to The DAZN Boxing Show, Garcia was quick to dismiss any rush for a clash with Charlo.

"Right now, I’m just taking it one fight at a time," Garcia said.

"I can’t jump the gun, boxing changes so fast.

"If I go in there and do great, feel strong, feel spectacular, then we’re ready for whatever."

But there is one name which continues to follow Garcia, Keith Thurman. The pair went head-to-head in 2017 for the WBA and WBC welterweight titles in a fight which saw Thurman triumph via a split decision.

When asked by hosts Ak and Barak about whether he would be interested in a rematch, Garcia showed interest and claimed he is the only person Thurman can face next.

"Definitely, for Keith Thurman I feel like that makes the best sense for him and his career," Garcia stated.

"Who else is he going to fight?

"Is he going to fight one of these young killers?"
