Danny Garcia was beating the brakes off Ivan Redkach to the point that the only pain that the Ukrainian fighter could muster was by biting "Swift."
The wild moment came rather subtly in the eighth round, when Redkach bit Garcia's shoulder during the clinch.
“He bit me. He said ‘Mike Tyson’ when he bit me," Garcia told Showtime's Jim Gray in the ring following his unanimous decision win. "I said ‘Ref, he bit me.’ I thought I needed stitches or something. That’s my first time ever getting bit in a fight. Things happen though. I’ve been in a street fight before, so I did it all.”
During his post-fight press conference, Garcia continued to express disbelief for his opponent biting him.
"I just felt something like digging in my skin," Garcia said at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. "I thought a mosquito got me. Then I look over ... he's biting me.
"He has new teeth too," Garcia added. "He got some brand new veneers."
Garcia also joked about joining Evander Holyfield as boxers who got bit by their opponents. Of course, he's referring to Mike Tyson biting Holyfield in their June 1997 rematch.
Last year, Kash Ali also bit David Price in their bout in England.
