The IBF heavyweight title holder denied his rival three-time world champion status in a performance that ripped up pre-fight expectations.

Daniel Dubois was "a man possessed" in his bout with Anthony Joshua, with Darren Barker lauding the Briton's "hellbent" performance at Wembley Stadium.

The IBF heavyweight title holder denied his opponent the chance to become a three-time world champion with an outstanding fifth round knockout victory before 96,000 fans.

The result flew in the face of pre-match odds and expectation, and served to help legitimise Dubois after he inherited the title following Oleksandr Usyk vacating the crown.

Barker, for DAZN, felt Dubois delivered a statement performance in the biggest win of his career, adding that he "ripped up the script" with a sensational showcase.

"The showing from Dubois was one of a man possessed," he said. "He just wasn't taking no for an answer. He just looked pumped from the moment he left his dressing room.

"He looked good all week, relaxed, and he turned the screw at the right time. At the commentary desk, we all thought he looked fired up. The performance proves that.

"He was so fully focused on what he wanted to do, not what Anthony Joshua wanted to do. He was hellbent on winning that fight and making a real name for himself.

"I was so impressed by the desire, the intent, the will to win, the total disregard of anything Anthony Joshua was looking to offer. It just completely ripped up the script."
