David Benavidez is aiming to knock out David Lemieux when the super middleweight fighters meet on May 21st.

The American fighter is a two-time champion while Lemieux is also former title holder, and the pair will contest the WBC interim championship at 168lbs as they pursue another shot at a world title.

25-year-old fighter Benavidez boasts a 25-0 record with 22 KOs, and last fought Kyrone Davis, delivering a seventh-round stoppage. He hopes to take the decision out of the judges’ hands yet again when he faces Lemieux.

“I’m excited to be fighting for another belt, and I’m training extremely hard because it is another big opportunity for my career and future,” said Benavídez, reported BoxingScene.com

“David Lemieux still has a lot of power, so I have to make sure I sharpen all my skills 100 percent. I’m confident I can stop Lemieux and I’m planning on giving my fans another great fight on May 21.”

Lemieux is a former middleweight champion, and the 33-year-old moved up to 168lbs in 2019, winning his last three fights at the weight, and hopes to take the chance to challenge for the WBC belt after beating Benavidez.

“Ever since I turned professional, I’ve had my eyes on the WBC belt,” explained Lemieux.

“This is my chance to grasp it. This is a very important fight for me and I plan on making a strong statement on May 21. I’m coming to win.”
