Davis Benavidez is targeting a showdown with either Dmitry Bivol or Artur Beterbiev as he plots a big assault on world titles next year.
First for Benavidez is a February showdown against Cuba’s David Morrell and victory will provide a platform for him to push on towards bigger fights.
Earlier this year, Beterbiev was victorious against Bivol as he became undisputed ruler at 175lbs, and it’s speculated the pair will meet in a rematch in 2025.
Benavidez has long wanted to prove himself against boxing’s elite names, but his pursuit to secure a bout with Canelo Alvarez brough constant failure.

There’s still no sign of a fight between Canelo and Benavidez, so the Arizona man is looking to land the biggest fights at light-heavyweight.
“I’m ready to continue to be a dominant force in this weight class. Hopefully, I get the winner [of Beterbiev vs. Bivol 2],” said Benavidez when speaking to Fight Hub TV .
“Not if I’m successful. When I’m successful, that’s what I’m going to be trying to get. I was kind of preparing myself mentally for a fight against Beterbiev or Bivol.
“That’s why when I called my promoter and asked for the [Morrell] fight, I was already mentally ready. This fight is coming at the perfect time. He’s young; he’s a champion.”
