David Nyika is confident of a straight forward victory over Tommy Karpency.

On the eve of their big Cruiserweight fight, David Nyika has likened rival Tommy Karpency to one of his favourite foods.

The unbeaten New Zealander takes on the American veteran live on DAZN and is confident of another routine victory.

Nyika is nine from nine, with eight knock-outs, while Karpency, nine years Nyika's senior, boasts a record of 31-8-1, with 19 KOs.

While the Olympic bronze medallist respects his opponent, he is predicting a straightforward win in Auckland, New Zealand, in what he expects to be his next step towards greatness.

"Tommy is a seasoned veteran and you can literally see it in the calcification in his hands," said Nyika.

"But he's just another beef sandwich - Dave's got to eat! He's just another opponent and he will just be another scalp on my record.

"I think Tommy's going to stand bang with me. So best case scenario, we put on a hell of a show, and worst case scenario, I deck him early, and we all have a have a great night."

As expected, Karpency insists he can shock Nyika and put the rising star in his place. That is despite being a late notice replacement after Blake Caparello failed a pre-fight drug test.

Karpency said: "I always try and keep myself in good shape and we had a fight not too long ago. So, when this opportunity arose, we grabbed it.

"I've been fortunate in my career. A lot of opportunities have come my way to fight world champions and world-class fighters. This is another opportunity for me to break into a bigger fight.

"I'm here to win, we will see when the bell rings"

The full fight card will stream live on DAZN in over 200 countries across the globe. You can sign up for a subscription here.
