Demetrius Andrade is ready to move up to 168lbs to challenge either Billy Joe Saunders or Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Andrade is currently preparing to meet Liam Wiliams on 17th April in a mandatory defence of his WBO title, to be shown live on DAZN.
Speaking to Boxing with Chris Mannix on DAZN, the middleweight champion said that he had found it tough to find a willing opponent, and when asked if he would move up to 168lbs in pursuit of a belt, explained what his plans could be.
"That's what I was working on, to fight Billy Joe Saunders," Andrade told Mannix. "They used my name for leverage to secure the Canelo fight. Now, if Canelo wins the fight, or Billy Joe wins the fight, I could still do that, but you've got other belts at 168lbs."
However, Andrade was unsure if he would use his position as WBO champion to force through a challenge by moving up a weight.
"I don't know how that situation plays out, who the picks are," Andrade said. "But in that case, that move still exists where I can still fight the next weight class up or next weight class down for the WBO."
The 33-year-old fighter also put pressure on his promoter, Eddie Hearn, suggesting that he is growing frustrated with the opportunities on the offer so far.
"He says he's trying to offer [Jermall] Charlo money," he said. "First off, that was seven million, maybe that's not enough, but it's a big fight and a big draw, so maybe more money. What are we doing with GGG? What are we doing with Billy Joe? These are the fights where he needs to step up to the plate and make the fights happen, because I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be doing."
