Sam Eggington failed to make a successful first defense of his IBO world super welterweight title after being beaten by Dennis Hogan.
It was clear that Hogan was the crowd favorite in Australia who managed to win a world title at the fourth time of asking.
Eggington suffered a cut on the top of his head in the third round following an accidental clash of heads. As the fight progressed, Hogan began to gain control after a cagey start.
Hogan turned up the pressure during the latter stages, landing some big punches on the Stourbridge fighter in the final two rounds.
This was enough for Hogan to seal the victory on a majority decision, with the judges scoring the fight 114-114, 116-112, and 116-112 in Hogan's favor.
