Deontay Wilder has two names he would like to face if a contest with Anthony Joshua can’t be secured.
The former WBC heavyweight champion has been inactive since defeating Robert Helenius last October, but Malik Scott, the trainer of Wilder, has spoken about several targets for when Wilder does make his ring return.
Wilder has been linked to a December bout with Joshua for a number of months now, but it now appears that eagerly anticipated clash wont take place until next year.
If Wilder is to fight in the meantime, Andy Ruiz and Zhilei Zhang are the fighters he would like to test himself against.
“I mean Ruiz is a top-tier heavyweight, so anybody that’s in that top-tier, including him, is definitely an option. We may go with Ruiz.” said Scott when speaking to Mail Sport.
“Who else is there? Usyk, but Usyk is fighting Fury. I wouldn’t mind seeing Deontay knock out Zhang who just beat Joe Joyce.
“He put himself in a position to be an option and I would want that to be in Zhang’s country.”
