Deontay Wilder has hinted that his October classic with Tyson Fury could be his last fight. The former world champion came so close to regaining his crown after dropping his great rival twice but after finally being stopped in the fight’s penultimate round, Wilder’s legendary saga with Fury was over.
Since that night, speculation has been rife surrounding Wilder’s next move with fights against Andy Ruiz and Charles Martin rumoured for 2022. Despite suggestions that Wilder will fight again, the Alabama man has admitted that retirement is possible after speaking with Kevin Hart on the latest episode of Cold as Balls.
“It’s mixed feelings because ultimately I have accomplished all my goals in this sport,” said Wilder when talking to Hart. “I told my daughter when she was one that I’d be a champion and I’d be able to support her beyond her belief.
“I’ve done that. There’s a lot of things that I’ve accomplished that I feel I have to prove to anyone because I’ve already proven. Should I push forward? Should I give it a go one more time? Or should I just retire and focus on the other things that I already have, other things that I want to get into?”
