Deontay Wilder trainer makes prediction for potential fight with Oleksandr Usyk

Deontay Wilder trainer makes prediction for potential fight with Oleksandr UsykMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing
The former WBC champion returns to action in June.

The undisputed heavyweight title fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk on May 18, which will be live on DAZN PPV, will bring the boxing world to a standstill.

One fighter which will have a keen eye on the event in Riyadh will be former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder who is preparing for a huge fight of his own.

Following a disappointing loss to Joseph Parker in December, Wilder has a chance to revive his career when he faces Zhilei Zhang on the Queensberry vs. Matchroom 5v5 card on June 1.

Wilder will be Matchroom's team captain and if he can beat the hard-hitting Zhang, there is no doubt he will be in line to face some of the heavyweight division's biggest names.

One of those could be Usyk, and Wilder's trainer, Malik Scott, is confident his man could topple the Ukrainian if the pair were to meet at some point in the future.

"I can see Wilder knocking Usyk out cold," Scott told Sky Sports.

"He's a smaller man, Deontay fights southpaws pretty well, the lineup is right there for him to be knocked out. It's just about Deontay staying focused, having tonnes of humility and being responsible defensively.

"As long as he follows those rules for me, he's unbeatable, it's when he gets away from those things that he's susceptible to being beaten."
