Dillian Whyte is a “dangerous” opponent for anyone at heavyweight. That’s the verdict of Malik Scott, who is currently occupied with preparing Deontay Wilder for his WBC title crack at Tyson Fury on October 9th in Las Vegas.
Scott, a former foe of Wilder, has been handed the task of getting the Alabama man ready for his trilogy fight with Fury after Wilder split with long-term trainer, Mark Breland. Whyte, a fighter who has been pursuing a showdown with Wilder for a number of years, is someone who Scott believes possesses a real threat.
"Whyte is just dangerous for anyone, said Scott when speaking with BoxingScene.” But what makes him vulnerable for Wilder is he’s very front-foot heavy. And I think being under 6ft 3ins going against any powerful puncher, especially Deontay, is a recipe for disaster.
“His height appears shorter than his actual height really is and his best and hardest punch really is his left jab/hook. His arms are longer than they appear and they hang down almost to his knees. So, when you think you’re out of range of his height, it’s tricky because you’re still in arm’s reach of him because of his long arm length.”
