Are we finally set to see a huge heavyweight clash between Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz? Malik Scott, the trainer of Wilder, certainly thinks so.
A clash between the American rivals has long been discussed but both fighters, both former world champions, have so far failed to reach an agreement.
Wilder, currently linked to a huge clash with Anthony Joshua at the end of the year, is eager to regain the heavyweight crown he lost to Tyson Fury in 2020.
A contest against Ruiz would go some way to proving that he’s ready to return to the top and Scott is of the belief that the bout can be made.
“That’s the buzz fight right now and it’s looking like that might be the route we end up going,” said Scott to ESNews when discussing Wilder vs. Ruiz
“Deontay is in the position where so many big fights are lined up that anything or any opponent can possibly change.
“Andy Ruiz is definitely one of the main options right now and we’ll see where it lands at. I’d like to see it at the Crypto Centre, and I like Vegas.”
