Dereck Chisora aims for sparring session with Anthony Joshua, thinks they can help each other outDAZN
On paper, at least, this heavyweight pairing seems to be mutually beneficial toward both fighters' upcoming bouts.

A favor for a favor — that's what Dereck Chisora is asking Anthony Joshua for, as he believes they're in perfect position to help each other out.

"Sparring, yes," Chisora told Sky Sports about wanting to log some ring work with the former unified world heavyweight champion. "He's tall, I'm short!"

By the latter, Chisora is referring to being 6-2 and his Oct. 26 opponent David Price towering over him at 6-8. That's comparable to the 6-6 Joshua preparing for a 6-2 Andy Ruiz Jr. in their highly-anticipated rematch for the unified world heavyweight titles on Dec. 7. So, that's specifically why Chisora and his team want to set up some sparring time with Joshua.

"I'm going to see him next week," Chisora said about AJ. "He's asked me a couple of times before, but I've been too busy."

Chisora's manager David Haye couldn't agree more that his charge sparring with Joshua flat out makes too much sense for it not to happen.

"For both of their respective fights, they are ideal sparring partners for each other," Haye said. "If any heavyweight can mimic Ruiz Jr's pressure, it is Derek. If anyone can mimic Price's long-range jab, it is AJ. There is potential for sparring, particularly in the last week [of Chisora's training camp]. Six or eight rounds would be good preparation, not just for Derek, but for AJ as well. Hopefully we can get it over the line."

On paper at least, this sparring session seems like it would be mutually beneficial.
