Eddie Hearn promised that legit boxers would be featured on the KSI-Logan Paul 2 card, so that their internet-driven fan base can perhaps fall in love with the sweet science.
Well, the Matchroom Boxing president has just the boxer in mind to shine in that one-of-a-kind spotlight — none other than Devin Haney.
During the Gennadiy Golovkin-Sergiy Derevyanchenko card Saturday night, DAZN announced the WBC interim lightweight champion will be a featured fighter on the KSI-Logan Paul rematch card at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Nov. 9. Haney's opponent has yet to be announced.
Still, Haney figures to be an apt selection for the atypical boxing audience that KSI and Logan Paul will generate, considering "The Dream" used social media to help beef up his profile to 437,000 followers on Instagram. At just 20, he became the WBC interim lightweight champion last month by defeating Zaur Abdullaev after fracturing his orbital bone in a savage boxing display. That said, he can't wait to be exposed to an even larger audience.
Haney seemingly has just the right amount of skills and personality to win over new fans with his placement on this special card; he also gives the event boxing credibility well beyond its social media-famous stars.
A win-win situation for Haney? Sounds like it.
