Devin Haney is ready to fight Ryan Garcia in a match-up he believes is a “mega fight”.
Haney became the new WBC champion at super lightweight on Saturday night in San Francisco, when he defeated the incumbent Regis Prograis in a one-sided showing, live on DAZN.
Garcia fought last weekend when he beat Oscar Duarte comfortably, making a successful comeback after his defeat to Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis earlier in the year.
Haney and Garcia now both operate at 140lbs and had been linked with a fight when they were both in the lightweight division.
Garcia spoke on social media after Haney’s win to suggest he knew the way to beat the champ, and Haney responded in his post-win press conference.
He said: “It’s a possibility. It’s a mega fight. I’ve been calling Ryan out for years, now. It’s good to hear that he wants the fight. It’s sad that it comes after he took an L, but it was only a matter of time.
Now he want to call me out, but it’s still a big fight and I want to make the biggest fights out there.
