Dillian Whyte: I will knock Alexander Povetkin outDAZN
The heavyweights will meet on Saturday night in Gibraltar.

Dillian Whyte believes that he will ‘definitely’ beat Alexander Povetkin when they face one another on Saturday night.

The heavyweight pair will fight in Gibraltar in a rematch to contest 41-year-old Povetkin’s WBC interim championship.

They last fought in August last year as part of Matchroom’s Fight Camp series when 32-year-old Whyte suffered a shock knockout defeat in the fifth round after knocking down the Russian twice in the fourth. The coronavirus pandemic and Povetkin’s own coronavirus infection led to two delays before the current scheduled fight.

Speaking to the BBC, Whyte was bullish but knew he had much to do.

"It's the biggest fight of my career," Whyte said.

"There is no psychological damage, I'll get straight back in and prove to myself how good I am.

"There will definitely be a different result."

Whyte believes he should have been more clinical in the first fight after knocking down his opponent twice.

"I could've taken more advantage of those knockdowns in the fourth last time but that's heavyweight boxing - if you fight good fighters regularly, you will lose sometimes," he explained.

"You have to be ruthless and fearless - that's how guys get up off the floor and win fights.

"I still believe I can be one of the best heavyweights of the day, if not the best out there.

"I believe I will be world champion one day, but I'll get this done first - I'll knock him out."
