WBC interim champion Dillian Whyte said he expects 'straight maximum violence' at Fight Camp Week 4 on Saturday when he faces Alexander Povetkin.

Dillian Whyte promised "straight maximum violence" in his showdown with Alexander Povetkin at Fight Camp Week 4.

The 32-year-old Briton puts his interim WBC championship title on the line against the Russian on Saturday 22 August, and is ready for the strange surroundings.

Staying in a RV ahead of his fight at Matchroom's Brentwood headquarters, he told Matchroom the setup was, “Cool. I just need a bed. I’m easy.”

One further change he has made to his preparations is the late inclusion of David Coldwell at the behest of his coach Xavier Miller, who replaced Mark Tibbs in the role.

“Contact was made a few weeks ago,” he explained.

“It was my coach’s idea to have a second pair of eyes. You can’t do everything yourself, you can’t see everything yourself.

“Most fighters have two coaches. You need experience, you can’t buy experience. Having two experienced guys in your corner, you won’t miss anything.

“The coach wanted another pair of eyes. It was really mature and really good of him.”

Whyte said he was itching to go ahead of Saturday, but that he remained relaxed.

“I’m ready to rock. I’m ready to go. I’m not completely switched on yet. I’m usually chilled out until about 10 minutes to go. I don’t get overly excited and start going mad weeks or days out.

“I have a laugh, relax, crack jokes until it’s go time. When it’s two or three minutes out, I start howling. I turn into the Hounds of the Baskervilles.”

Asked what viewers could expect in his fight against Povetkin, he replied simply: “Straight maximum violence.”

Whether that is enough to defeat his 40-year-old Russian is another matter, which Whyte acknowledges.

“He believes he can beat me, and he thinks he can knock me out. If he beats me, he totally revamps his career.”
