Stephen Smith believes that Dmitry Bivol can be beaten, but you have to take the initiative.
Bivol is still undfeated and the light heavyweight champion continues to be linked with an undisputed showdown against Artur Beterbiev, the unified champion at 175lbs.
He is perhaps best known for his assured defeat of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez as the Mexican fell short against the technically adept and powerful fighter.
Smith is part of the famous boxing family from Liverpool, and was able to challenge for titles twice in his career before retiring.
However he remains heavily involved in the sport amongst his brothers, and speaking to Betway, he explained the differences between Beterbiev and Bivol, and suggested there are ways to beat the latter despite his obvious quality.
He said: "Bivol is a different fighter to Beterbiev. I think Beterbiev will come and give you more opportunities while Bivol is more on his feet.
"A lot of people read into the Canelo fight and praise Bivol, and rightly so for his performance, but there are definitely weaknesses there with Bivol and you need to stamp your authority against Bivol and you’ve got to make him down to your tune rather than let him go into his own rhythm, his in and out movement and read his rhythm, land your shots and make the action go the way you want it go."
