Dmitry Bivol’s 2022 was already set to be a landmark year following his win over Canelo Alvarez in May, but the unbeaten 175lbs star has enhanced his credentials further by outclassing Gilberto Ramirez.
Has Bivol’s win over the Mexican given him the opportunity to move up the DAZN Pound for Pound rankings?
The answer is yes.
Following his win over Ramirez, Bivol has jumped one place and is now included in the top five at the expense of Errol Spence.
The Texas welterweight has been linked to a long-awaited contest with Terence Crawford, but with no sign of that happening soon, he drops one spot.
Spence is currently without a fight date, so it’s not known when he may earn back the position he previously occupied.
With Bivol now set to have a number of interesting propositions in front of him next year, a second win over Canelo, or an undisputed clash with Artur Beterbiev, will provide him with the chance to climb even higher.
