Does Teofimo Lopez have what it takes to make noise at 140 pounds?

Teofimo Lopez was confident that a win this weekend would set the stage to make 2023 the ideal time to go for a second championship, but Sandor Martin was the one to deliver a reality check.

Although Teofimo Lopez managed to salvage a (split) win with a trip to the canvas in between, the thought of a showdown against the likes of Regis Prograis, Josh Taylor, Jack Catterall, Jose Zepeda, Jose Carlos Ramirez makes for a very complicated scenario.

Teofimo knows what happened and that is why as soon as the fight was over he apologized to his fans and assured them that he will continue to work to be able to gain that ground.

It should be noted that the fight against Sandor Martin was a world eliminator for the WBC title, which is currently held by Regis Prograis, and that is a very tough test to the version that Teofimo Lopez presented Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

In an interview with DAZN News, Teofimo said that at 25 years old he is a veteran and a novice at the same time, master and apprentice, and that is why now it will be his turn to focus on the gym 24/7 if he wants to make a dent and clear the doubts in one of the most competitive divisions at the moment.

Who do you want to see Teofimo face in a marquee fight at 140lbs? Or do you feel one or two more fights before the bigger names is a good idea, based on Lopez vs. Martin?
