Eddie Hearn delivers huge update on Chris Eubank Jr vs. Conor Benn fightMatchroom Boxing

Eddie Hearn has insisted that he’s close to rescheduling last year’s postponed fight between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr.

The pair had been set to clash last October but an adverse finding in Benn’s drug test ensured the bout couldn’t move forward.

Since then, Eubank Jr has moved on with his career and he was sensationally stopped in four rounds by Liam Smith in January.

The Brighton man was set to rematch ‘Beefy’ in July, but that fight has now been called off.

Has this paved the way for Eubank to now face Benn? Hearn certainly believes so and he’s provided an update on the contest.

"I think we're very close to making that fight,” said Hearn when speaking to Boxing Social

“I'd be lying if I told you that we aren't motivated to make that fight because we really want to make that fight, it's a huge fight.

"Eubank wants the fight, Conor Benn wants the fight, I wouldn't say I'm not involved in the fight, but Frank Smith is leading the way.

“I will do whatever deals need to be done behind the scenes, I will pop up at any meetings that need to get anything over the line, but I believe that will happen.”
