Eddie Hearn wasn't impressed with one fighter's desire.

Eddie Hearn believes that Jermell Charlo should’ve produced a better effort when facing Canelo Alvarez last month.

The Texan fighter jumped up two weight classes to challenge Canelo, but he was dropped before losing on points in a performance where he looked to be focusing on survival rather than victory.

Before the bout, Charlo had been backed by some of boxing’s biggest names, but it was evident early on that he was out of his depth.

The rebuilding process for Charlo will shortly get underway but Hearn, the former promoter of Canelo, is not sure whether Charlo’s reputation can recover.

“If you’re gonna get beat, go out on your shield and get chinned, said Hearn when speaking to Matchroom Boxing

“Those kinds of performances can really affect your profile. Before the fight, Charlo against Terrence Crawford was a mega fight. Is it now?

“I thought it was a really disappointing fight. He just went into his shell and tried to survive, it was weird, very poor.”
