'It's been a long road!' - Eddie Hearn plotting 'massive fight' for Conor Benn after two-year saga

'It's been a long road!' - Eddie Hearn plotting 'massive fight' for Conor Benn after two-year sagaMelina Pizano/Matchroom
The Briton looks set to have a blockbuster 2025 slate if the Matchroom boss gets his wish.

Eddie Hearn hopes Conor Benn can "get back to work on a massive fight" after the Briton was cleared of any wrongdoing following an adverse finding in a 2022 drugs test.

The star looks set to return to the ring in 2025 following a two-year saga that began when he pulled out of a blockbuster bout with Chris Eubank Jr on the even of the fight.

A suspension from the UK Anti-Doping Agency in March 2023 was lifted four months later by the National Anti-Doping Panel, with the 28-year-old now free to resume his career.

With Benn having flown to Philadelphia ahead of the Two KIngs fight card live on DAZN, Matchroom boss Hearn outlined his plans with the fighter, as well as what comes next.

"We're having dinner," he told The Stomping Ground. "[We'll] spin the fat over a steak, maybe a small glass of red to celebrate. It's been a long road, for both of us to be fair.

"We just want to get back to work. We want him to perform. It's been over two years. Now, [we'll] get back to work on a massive fight.

"We're looking forward to the emergence of a new British boxing star. The board's going to do what the board's going to do. Everything's out of our hands."

UKAD suggested following Benn's announcement on X that he had been cleared that they were considering further appeal options.

Benn meanwhile could potentially line up a long-awaited clash with Eubank Jr., whose hopes of facing Canelo Alvarez appear to have been dashed.
