Eddie Hearn was left disappointed after John Ryder failed to make a dent on Jaime Munguia during their brutal super-middleweight encounter.
Munguia was victorious after dropping Ryder four times before the bout was called off in the ninth session, and now the unbeaten Mexican is chasing more big fights at 168lbs.
One potential battle that could be next for Munguia is a showdown with Canelo Alvarez for world titles.
Munguia, and his team, have long pursued a fight with Canelo, and after doing a better job on Ryder than his fellow countryman achieved last year, Munguia believes he’s at the front of the queue to face Canelo.
With the pound-for-pound star speculated to face Jermall Charlo next, Munguia may have to look elsewhere prompting Eddie Hearn to suggest a contest with Edgar Berlanga.
“If they don’t get that fight made, I want to make Jaime Munguia against Edgar Berlanga,” said Hearn when speaking to Fight Hub TV
“If Berlanga can win on February 24th impressively. Mexico against Puerto Rico, that’s a big fight at MSG. It’ll fill the place up. So, I think that’s a good fight.”
