Eddie Hearn has confirmed that the eagerly anticipated rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol will go ahead.
The Matchroom boss has been informed by Turki Alalshikh that fight will happen after the light-heavyweight pair delivered a classic earlier this month.
Beterbiev won the bout, but the closeness of the contest combined with the high quality has ensured that people want to see it a second time.
Now undisputed champion at 175lbs, Beterbiev will look to exert further dominance on the division by repeating the win over Bivol.
In the immediate aftermath of their fight, it had been speculated by some in boxing that the fighters could head in different directions and pursue other contests.
Canelo Alvarez is one boxer linked both Beterbiev and Bivol, as well as David Benavidez.
Now, it looks very likely that the sequel will take place at some point in 2025 after Hearn provided details in a recent interview.
“His Excellency has told us the rematch is on,” said Hearn when speaking to Fight Hub TV .
“So, we’ll wait for the final confirmation of that.”
