Eddie Hearn has hit out at one fighter.

Shakur Stevenson caused something of a shock last month when he took to social media to announce his retirement from boxing.

The unbeaten three weight world champion currently has no fight scheduled but it was expected that 2024 was set to be a huge year for him with numerous top fighters linked to a fight with him.

Instead, Stevenson went in a completely different direction by insisting he was done with the sport and would just stay in the gym instead.

It’s unclear whether the Newark man is serious about his post on X, but Eddie Hearn, a huge admirer of Stevenson, has insisted that the fighter isn’t walking away from the sport just yet.

“It’s ridiculous. Like I don’t even know why we give this kind of stuff airtime,” said Hearn when speaking to FightHype

“Like Shakur Stevenson, one of the best pound for pound fighters on the planet, he’s so boring. How old is the guy, 26. Of course he’s not retiring. Just say to him ‘Alright, mate. Bye. Come back to us when you’ve finished your tantrum.’”
