The long-awaited Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight could be announced this weekend. Eddie Hearn, the promoter of Joshua who is currently in Dallas hyping the huge Canelo Alvarez vs. Billy Joe Saunders clash, has been constantly questioned in recent weeks regarding official confirmation of the heavyweight battle but it appears an announcement close.
Taking a brief moment from the Canelo vs. Saunders chaos, a fight which will be screened exclusively on DAZN in all regions except Mexico, Hearn was once again bombarded with enquiries relating to boxing’s biggest fight.
“A lot of people think we're going to announce on Saturday, we might,” teased Hearn when speaking to FightHub on the eve of Canelo vs. Alvarez. “It won't be far off that if we do.”
“Fury is on board, AJ is on board, they've all signed the site agreement, but it's a lot of money. Unfortunately, I can't just tell the lawyers to hurry up. But that fight is done, and you'll get an announcement very soon.”
With Fury currently in Dallas supporting Saunders, Hearn was asked whether Joshua would be making the trip to Texas. “AJ isn't coming, but it's difficult because this fight is exclusive on DAZN around the world, and the other [Joshua vs. Fury] has three or four broadcasters who would quite like to be involved in the announcement.”
