Matchroom's Eddie Hearn is looking to prove a point at the next '5v5' event which is supposedly scheduled for later this year.
The first of this unique event took place last June which saw Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions clean sweep his British promotional rival.
This concept proved popular amongst fight fans and now it looks like Hearn will be involved in the next instalment, this time against Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.
One fight which could find itself on the card would be a cruiserweight title unification between IBF champion Jai Opetaia and WBA and WBO titleholder Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez, and Hearn confirmed to RingMagazine.com that talks have begun to make this particular contest a reality.
“I think that’s the best fight in the division – I really do,” Hearn said.
“I had a good chat with Oscar in Riyadh [during Oleksandr Usyk-Tyson Fury fight week] and spoke to [Golden Boy CEO] Eric Gomez, and we’re talking about that fight being part of ‘5v5’ in the summer.
“I think that would be a tremendous fight for the ‘5v5.’ I think it would be a tremendous fight for any card, if I’m honest.
"It’s the fight for the division. And obviously, it would mean that whoever wins is just one belt away from being undisputed, just the WBC.”
Opetaia has made it no secret he wants to face Ramirez next after calling out the Mexican following a devastating fourth round knockout win against David Nyika earlier this month.
