Eddie Hearn teases date for possible Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall rematch

Eddie Hearn teases date for possible Josh Taylor vs. Jack Catterall rematchDAZN
The first fight between the two British rivals ended in controversy.

Matchroom's Eddie Hearn has revealed his plans to try and make the rematch between former undisputed super lightweight champion Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall.

The pair first went head-to-head in February 2022 in a fight which ended in controversy. Many believed Catterall had done enough to win the fight after knocking down Taylor in round eight, but it was the Scotsman who was declared the winner on the judges' scorecards and it was a result which received a hostile response from fans and experts within boxing.

Since that night in Glasgow, Taylor and Catterall have traded verbal blows on social media, setting the scene perfectly for a rematch, but any plans for a second fight have fallen short.

Now with Taylor no longer a world champion after being beaten by Teofimo Lopez in June, now seems the perfect opportunity for Taylor and Catterall to meet once more, and Hearn has plans to make this fight happen if his Instagram Stories are to be believed.

"Deal with Linares, then make that fight for Jan/Feb," Hearn wrote when asked about the possibility of making the Taylor vs. Catterall rematch.

Before anything can be put in place for that particular contest, Catterall must first get past Jorge Linares later this year in a fight which can be seen live on DAZN
