Eddie Hearn rubbishes 'last roll of the dice' talk after Terri Harper defeats Rhiannon Dixon

Eddie Hearn rubbishes 'last roll of the dice' talk after Terri Harper defeats Rhiannon DixonMark Robinson / Matchroom Boxing
Taking the WBO female lightweight title by unanimous decision in Sheffield, the 27-year-old made history with a fine performance on Saturday.

Eddie Hearn hailed Terri Harper's victory over Rhiannon Dixon to become a three-weight world champion, rubbishing suggestions it had been "the last roll of the dice" for her.

The Doncaster-born fighter delivered a victory by unanimous decision over the WBO female lightweight title holder at Sheffield's Canon Medical Arena on Saturday.

Having previously held titles at super featherweight and super welterweight, victory for Harper ensured she becomes a world champion in a third division.

Now Matchroom promoter Hearn has underscored the size of her success, and paid tribute to the fighter, who arrived with only one win in her last three bouts.

"All week, everyone was saying this was the last roll of the dice," he said afterwards. "She's 27 years old. To become a three-weight world champion is a massive achievement.

"You think about the fights she's been involved in over her career, it's a massive achievement.

"I thought it was a brilliant fight. I'm so glad we kept this show on. She made history tonight [as a] three-division world champion."

Harper's next step is yet to be confirmed, but there are numerous options she may choose to take after entering the history books.

IBF lightweight champion Beatriz Ferreira seems a logical option, but a potential rematch with old foe Alycia Baumgardner could be agreed if the latter steps up in weight.
