Ellie Scotney teases her future plans and calls out world champion after Mea Motu win

Ellie Scotney teases her future plans and calls out world champion after Mea Motu winMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing

IBF and WBO women's super bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney has expressed an interest in moving up to featherweight.

Scotney got her tenth professional win on Saturday night against Mea Motu with a unanimous decision and is fast becoming one of Britain's best female boxers.

However, Scotney does not feature prominently in debates surrounding the best female boxers and speaking to DAZN after her win over Motu, the 26-year-old called for a clash with WBC featherweight champion Skye Nicolson to force herself into the conversation.

“People have got to be willing to take the fights and willing to pay, but getting names is probably what gets you noticed,” Scotney said.

“I’m looking at featherweight and Skye Nicolson’s a fight I want and I’ll be pushing for that too.

“You can see the action here. It’s a fight that can be made. Eddie [Hearn] wants the big fights. He wants you to be willing to be paid. He wants the fights that mean something, and that means something, right?"

Scotney will have to wait a little while if a fight with Nicolson is to be made with the Olympian set to defend her title on March 22 against a yet to be confirmed opponent.
