Errol Spence Jr. backs Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to become undisputed at light heavyweight: 'He has the skill set'DAZN
The unified welterweight told the DAZN Boxing Show that Canelo can collect all four belts.

Errol Spence Jr. backed Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s chances of becoming undisputed at light heavyweight.

Last year the Mexican fighter completed the set at 168lbs and is now due to fight Dmitry Bivol at 175lbs on Cinco de Mayo weekend, before potentially setting up a trilogy rematch with Gennadiy Golovkin back at middleweight.

It has been suggested that Artur Beterbiev and Joe Smith Jr. could be targets after the GGG clash, therefore giving Canelo the opportunity to become undisputed in a second division.

Speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show, Spence - once a rumoured potential opponent for Canelo at middleweight - sees no reason why the fighter cannot bring in another four belts.

“I don’t know, I mean Canelo does whatever he wants to do,” he said.

“He can, I think he can. He has the skill set, seems like he got the chin, I think he can do it.

“I feel like Canelo is doing whatever he wants to do - he’s chasing history. What he’s doing is unheard of, skipping weight classes. Fighting who he wants to fight.

“I don’t feel like he’s ducking anybody.”
