The headline event was a sorry spectacle as the former champion stepped back in the ring.

Two-division world champion Evander Holyfield came out of retirement only to be stopped in the first round by Vitor Belfort.

Holyfield, who won world titles at both cruiserweight and heavyweight, last fought a decade ago and had been brought in at short notice to fight Belfort after Oscar De La Hoya had to withdraw after suffering a bout of coronavirus.

The 58-year-old was barely able to land a bunch and was sent to the canvas on two occasions before the referee had to step in to wave the event off.

Belfort, a former UFC champion, sent Holyfield through the ropes before knocking him down with an overhand left, and after another series of punches from the 44-year-old, Holyfield had lost.

In one of the card’s other main attractions for British viewers, the only other man to win at both cruiserweight and heavyweight, David Haye, secured an eight-round victory over Joe Fournier.
