A new world champion was crowned in Tokyo, Japan.

Kosei Tanaka continued to add to what is already a glittering career with a win over Christian Bacasegua Rangel for the vacant WBO world super flyweight title.

This win over Rangel has made Tanaka a four weight world champion after claiming titles at flyweight, light flyweight and minimumweight.

Tanaka and Rangel went head-to-head on the undercard of Alexandro Santiago vs. Junto Nakatani, and it was a contest in which Tanaka showcased his impressive boxing ability.

The Japanese fighter was in control for all 12 rounds with his jabs and hooks taking their toll on Rangel who showed some resilience.

In the final round, Rangel was just looking to last until the final bell as Tanaka increased his output in an attempt to close out the fight in style.

Following what was a dominant performance from Tanaka, it was no surprise that all three ringside judges scored the fight massively in the 28-year-old's favour with scorecards of 116-111, 117-110 and 119-108.
