After taking the time out of his retired life to clarify that a viral video of him talking about heading to Saudi Arabia to discuss a Manny Pacquiao rematch was "old," Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants everyone to know something else about the clip — that he made a lot of "Money" on it.
The retired, undefeated boxing legend took to his Instagram account Monday and claimed that he made $2.2 million for making the old video, before asking his 22.8 million followers on the social media app, "Now, who's the smart one?"
Mayweather's IG post came just a day after he spoke with FightHype to clarify that the video was "old" and that the rematch will "never" happen.
As you can see, Mayweather doubled down on that vow, saying in his post that the rematch against his rival "will never happen."
Mayweather was in attendance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas last month to witness the 40-year-old Pacquiao defeat 30-year-old Keith Thurman to become the WBA welterweight champion. After the bout, Pacquiao expressed his desire to face Mayweather in a rematch, but by the time he made his intentions clear, "Money" had left the building. The two boxing legends then engaged in a social media back-and-forth exchange over the next few days that followed.
Of course, Mayweather cruised to a unanimous decision over Pacquiao in their May 2015 fight, and from the sound of his aforementioned comments, he is more than comfortable leaving their history at that.
