Floyd Mayweather Jr. apparently liked what he saw from Conor McGregor on Saturday night.
Shortly after McGregor destroyed Donald Cerrone with a first-round TKO that took just 40 seconds in the main event of UFC 246, the boxing legend took to his Instagram account and posted a "Mayweather-McGregor 2 — 2020" fight poster.
For what it's worth, "Money" also posted a "Mayweather-Khabib Nurmagomedov" fight poster.
However, Mayweather's IG post corroborates what McGregor told ESPN earlier in the week about wanting to have a rematch of their mega-bout. Such a rematch would give "Notorious" the opportunity to avenge the 10th-round TKO loss he suffered at the hands of Mayweather in August 2017.
"I'd like to rematch Floyd," McGregor told ESPN's Ariel Helwani in an interview posted Monday. "I think we should rematch Floyd. He can go and pick someone else. It's not going to be the same."
"I know I'd beat Floyd if we rematched and when we rematch," he continued moments later. "I look forward to doing it again. It will happen again. It's happening again."
Of course, money would be a motivational factor for both fighters to run it back. Forbes reported that Mayweather made $275 million off their 2017 fight, while McGregor collected an estimated $100 million.
When a reporter brought up Mayweather's name during the UFC 246 postfight press conference, UFC president Dana White made sure to acknowledge, "We are doing something with Floyd."
Late last year, while sitting courtside at an NBA game, White and Mayweather reached a handshake deal for Mayweather's return.
"Floyd is in our plans and we are in Floyd's plans this year," White added, "and we'll end up doing something."
