A video surfaced over the weekend of Floyd Mayweather Jr. saying he’s headed to Saudi Arabia to discuss a potential rematch against Manny Pacquiao.
The retired, undefeated boxing legend didn’t take long to shoot down the rumors, saying the clip is "old" and that the rematch is "never" going to happen.
"I talked to them about me fighting there, just different fights, but they wanted me to specifically say Manny Pacquiao. Basically, that's an old video,” Mayweather said, while speaking with FightHype on Sunday. “At the end of the day, there's no talks about me and Manny Pacquiao fighting a rematch."
He added: "As far as me and Manny Pacquiao, as of right now, it will never be a rematch."
Mayweather having to clear up the rumors comes as a response to a viral video that surfaced over the weekend showing him saying: “It's an honor to come to Saudi Arabia to sit down with you guys to talk about the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch.”
Pacquiao defeated Keith Thurman last month at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with Mayweather in attendance. Although Pacquiao expressed his desire to have the rematch against Mayweather, it seems like "Money" is well past that.
Mayweather coasted to a unanimous decision over Pacquiao in their May 2015 fight.
