There are now claims that, despite reports of Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Logan Paul being a done deal, the fight is far from being set in stone.

On Wednesday, social media was filled with the shock news that legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0, 27 KOs) and YouTube star Logan Paul — who competed in two crossover fights with fellow celebrity KSI, drawing one and losing the other — had reportedly agreed to a deal to compete in an inevitably one-sided exhibition contest this year.

However, TMZ is now reporting that while it is indeed a possibility, it isn't set in stone yet. In fact, TMZ claims that sources close to the unbeaten former multi-weight world champion have informed them that Mayweather is leaning toward saying "no" right now.

Mayweather, 43, last fought competitively in August 2017 in a crossover against UFC's Conor McGregor, winning via stoppage. Any such scenario with Paul would be a non-sanctioned exhibition, but Mayweather also took on one of those at the end of 2018 when he destroyed kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in Tokyo.

The 25-year-old Paul, who seems to really want the exhibition to happen, remarked to TMZ at LAX airport on Wednesday: "You know I can't say s— right now".

Paul's brother and fellow YouTuber Jake Paul is already confirmed to be getting in on the act when he fights former NBA star Nate Robinson on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr.'s "Legends Only" show in November.

KSI, meanwhile, chimed in on the story via Twitter on Thursday. His win over Paul was recognized as the professional boxing debut for both, while their majority draw before that was a white collar contest. And he was particularly skeptical on whether Mayweather and Paul would actually do battle, with a picture of a cap to indicate he believes the reports of the fight happening are false:
