Floyd Mayweather recorded another exhibition victory, this time against Japanese MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura.
The pair fought on Saturday night in Japan’s Saitama Super Arena, and it was another easy workout for the 45-year-old multi-weight champion.
As an exhibition, Mayweather’s undefeated 50-0 professional record was not at risk but defeat never looked likely in the fight, scheduled for three rounds of two minutes.
He needed just two to end the bout.
The first round saw the left-handed Japanese fighter, with a 16-3 MMA record, attempting to feint, occasionally landing a blow on Mayweather to cheers from the crowd.
After the restart, Asakura attempted to increase the pressure and appeared to have Mayweather a little uncomfortable on his feet, which sparked Mayweather into action as he unleashed a barrage of blows to the head, before clocking his opponent with a right cross.
As the referee administered a standing count, Asakura could not rouse himself to stay in the fight..
After the conclusion of the fight, Mayweather said to the crowd: "I would like to thank the whole country of Japan; unbelievable country, unbelievable people."
