One fighter is on the move.

Joe Cordina will step into the ring with Shakur Stevenson in October, and he’ll do so with a new trainer in his corner.

It was reported earlier this month that the Welshman, a former world champion at super-featherweight, had parted ways with Tony Sims following a successful run together.

Cordina begins his bout against Stevenson a huge underdog and it’ll be Barry Smith and Ben Davison who will help get him ready for it.

Cordina’s move to Davison’s gym will see him train alongside the likes of Anthony Joshua and Leigh Wood, and he’ll be hopeful his switch can help him cause a huge upset.

“To be honest, for me it was just a change up, and it’s not just with Ben, it’s with Barry,” said Cordina when speaking to BoxingScene

“Barry’s a bit more hands on and on the pads and Ben mainly oversees, but it’s a good environment to be around but I think it was totally for a freshen up and something new.”
