Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk created some delight in the boxing world last week when it was announced the heavyweight pair had agreed to fight.
Both men spent the first part of the year aiming to secure a bout in April but that was never finalised, leading both men to seek alternative options.
Usyk defended his three world titles against Daniel Dubois in August, and Fury will partake in a crossover fight against Francis Ngannou later this month.
Despite it looking positive that the rivals will meet in either December or early next year, George Groves, a former world champion, still has doubts the contest happens.
“They've announced Usyk-Fury but whether it's actually properly done or not, who knows?” said Groves when speaking to Grosvenor Casinos
“They haven't announced a date, they haven't done a press conference for it. I might be sceptical that it happens at all to be honest, just a little bit sceptical.
“I think it's a possibility that it may be a hoax. I’m not saying it’s definitive because Usyk has announced it as well, so I don’t doubt that something’s been signed, but the timing of it is interesting.”
