Johnny Nelson is the latest member of the boxing community to heap praise on Jake Paul following his recent fight against Tommy Fury.
Despite losing to his great rival, Paul played his part in a global event and with the eyes of the world watching his lucrative showdown, the popular YouTuber’s stock shouldn’t go down despite the result.
Nelson, a former WBO cruiserweight world champion and now a respected pundit on Sky Sports, is fully aware of how boxing operates after spending many years within the sport.
A fan of the way Paul has marketed himself, Nelson didn’t hold back when complimenting Paul for the way he’s managed to gain the spotlight in a sport he’s still new to.
“Jake Paul is a genius, he can fight but he's a novice. He's got world-class attention, world-class money, and he's managed to get another novice to be paid world-class money,” said Nelson in his latest Sky Sports column.
“You're looking ringside, you're going from Cristiano Ronaldo to Tyson Fury, Mike Tyson, everybody who's anybody was out there watching this fight.
“Why is this? Because this young man sold himself right. He's created an image that you're going to buy into, and the numbers prove that.”
