As much as prospects of Terence Crawford moving up to fight Canelo Alvarez have dominated headlines, one former world champion believes there's a fight that better suits "Bud."
In speaking with reporters earlier in the week, Danny Garcia believes Crawford vs. Jarron Ennis simply "makes more sense."
"I mean that's the fight the fans really want to see," Garcia told the media, as reported by Sean Zittel. "That makes more sense. They're both the same size. I would love to see that fight.
"'Boots' is a young, hungry fighter from Philadelphia and he got so much to prove and he just wants to fight the best," he continued. "He wants to get in the ring with the best. He don't care who it is, where it is. I would love to see that fight, too."
And Garcia, a two-division world champion who returns to action against Erislandy Lara on September 14, live on DAZN, gives his fellow Philly fighter Ennis a chance to upset the consensus pound-for-pound best in Crawford.
"[Ennis] has the tools and the skills, to me, to beat anybody," Garcia tacked on. "He's hungry, he works hard, he's a gym rat and he loves boxing. I seen him grow up.
"Definitely he's going to be ready for when the time comes."
Ennis is the reigning IBF welterweight world champion but has said that he'd be willing to move up to 154 pounds to challenge Crawford, who just became the WBA super welterweight world champion last weekend with a unanimous decision over Israil Madrimov.
Both Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) and Ennis (32-0 with 1 no contest, 29 KOs) are undefeated.
