Francis Ngannou’s reward for pushing Tyson Fury close last month is a top ten ranking with the WBC governing body.
With Fury the current WBC heavyweight champion, Ngannou’s efforts caught the eye of everyone in the boxing world and the Mexican based organisation have listed the former UFC star in their current ratings.
Ngannou began his fight with Fury a significant underdog, but he made a mockery of pre-fight odds as he dropped the Brit before losing via split decision.
Since the result, Ngannou has been linked to a number of fights against the likes of Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, but with the WBC putting him in the frame for a world title shot, would he prefer a rematch with Fury?
The heavyweight division is set to be one to watch in 2024 with Fury, Joshua, Wilder, and Oleksandr Usyk all attached to huge fights with each other.
With Ngannou now a big part of the heavyweight scene thanks to his latest ranking, he’ll be confident he can play his part as well.
