'A big carrot!' - No issue for Frank Warren over Daniel Dubois challenge to Oleksandr Usyk despite Joseph Parker fight

'A big carrot!' - No issue for Frank Warren over Daniel Dubois challenge to Oleksandr Usyk despite Joseph Parker fightMark Robinson / Matchroom Boxing

Frank Warren sees no problem with Daniel Dubois challenging Oleksandr Usyk despite having a fight with Joseph Parker to come.

The Briton will meet the New Zealander as the co-headline event on a stacked supercard at Riyadh Season's The Last Crescendo.

But ahead of next month's encounter, Dubois stepped into the ring following Usyk's victory over Tyson Fury to challenge him in December.

Many have felt the move was disrespectful to Parker, but Queensberry boss Warren disagrees, and feels it adds incentive to their bout.

"We're in the boxing business," he told DAZN's Face-Off. "You just see a fight, he jumps in the ring. He did what he had to do.

"How many times over the years have you seen fighters do the same thing? By doing that, everybody knows who he is.

"If they didn't know before, they know who he is now. The winner of this fight, I genuinely do believe, will be fighting Usyk in a unification fight.

"It's not a carrot. It's a bag of carrots. It's 24 karat. That's what's on the table for the winner."

Dubois, who lost to Usyk in 2023, is bidding to mount another successful defence of his IBF heavyweight title against Parker, a former world champion.

Suggestions the victor could face Usyk appear a likely path if the latter chooses to stay in the division, rather than drop back to cruiserweight.
