Usyk beat Fury in first fight in Saudi Arabia.

Frank Warren has come to the defence of Tyson Fury's corner after his loss to Oleksandr Usyk earlier this month.

Fury was defeated by the Ukrainian in a split decision, making Usyk the undisputed champion of the division. After the fight, Peter Fury, the British boxer's uncle, hit out at his corner and slammed John Fury, Tyson's father, and the advice they were giving their fighter.

The criticism comes after footage shows his corner telling Fury he was ahead on the scorecards and that he didn't need to go for the stoppages when most believed Usyk was already ahead at that stage.

Now, Warren has backed Fury's team's approach in an interview with Boxing News and said he thought Fury was more than capable of winning the fight.

He said: “The bottom line is fight is over, all you can do is look back and say what should I have done different, what am I going to do differently than I did last time. That’s what sensible and smart people do. You adjust your tacts and other things if you need to do them that’s what you do.

“Enough has been said about what happened outside the ring. What happened inside the ring is that I saw Tyson was capable of winning the fight and what I also saw was that Usyk was also capable of winning the fight and he got the decision at the end of a very close fight.

“The onus now is on Tyson to change what happened last time and win the fight. I believe he is capable of sound he has the skill set to do it, and the intelligence to win the fight.

"There were stages were he was quite dominant and he was hurting Usyk with the super jab and this uppercuts but there weren’t enough of it. They will now both prepare for the rematch and we’ll see what it’s taken out of them.”
