Frank Warren denies Joe Joyce will fight Deontay Wilder, predicts opponent for Bronze BomberDAZN

Frank Warren believes Deontay Wilder will fight Robert Helenius in October.

The promoter made the observation when speaking to talkSPORT about the heavyweight division.

Wilder last fought in October 2021 when he took on Tyson Fury to challenge for the WBC belt he lost to the Briton in their second fight. In the trilogy rematch, Fury stopped Wilder to secure a second consecutive win, marking his first defence.

Fury has fought again already, knocking out Dillian Whyte in the sixth round at Wembley Arena in April, and while Whyte has been touted as a potential opponent for the Bronze Bomber, Warren does not believe it is on the horizon.

Wilder has had to undergo surgery since breaking his hand in his defeat to Fury, which has delayed his comeback and it appears Swedish heavyweight Helenius will welcome him back to the ring a year after his last fight.

Warren discussed a potential fight for Joe Joyce against Wilder, but said: “I’d love to do that fight, but he’s [Deontay] coming off a bad knockout.

"There’s no doubt that was a bad knockout against Tyson Fury who was a tough fight for him. Deontay is fighting in October; he’s coming back, and they’re talking about him fighting Robert Helenius, and that’ll be in the States.”
