Deontay Wilder was on the wrong end of an upset on Saturday night.

Promoter Frank Warren believes that Deontay Wilder may have been carrying an injury going into his fight with Joseph Parker on Saturday night.

The pair fought in the co-main event of the "Day of Reckoning" card in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and the result was one of the biggest talking points.

Wilder, who has previously held the WBC world heavyweight title, was the favourite despite being inactive for 14 months, but it was Parker who walked away with the victory.

A career best performance from the New Zealand fighter left Wilder in shock and now Warren has revealed that an injury could be to blame for the American star's poor showing.

“I was just talking to Shelly Finkel [Wilder’s manager] and they were telling me that he had a problem. He went into one of those Cryochambers and sat in it for a long time," Warren told talkSPORT

“I don’t know. Obviously, there’s going to be some excuse.”

While there have been calls for Wilder to retire following the loss to Parker, the "Bronze Bomber" has since taken to social media to state that he has no intention of hanging up the gloves just yet.
