Frank Warren believes Zhilei Zhang has an excellent chance of becoming world heavyweight champion by securing victory over Oleksandr Usyk.
Zhang is looking to land big fights in the future after announcing himself on the big stage with two thrilling stoppages against Joe Joyce to land WBO interim honours.
With Usyk and Tyson Fury occupying the top two spots in the divisison, Zhang has to look in their direction if he wants a world title shot.
Now the WBO mandatory challenger, the path to Usyk should be available in 2024 and Warren, a Hall of Fame promoter, thinks Zhang has the tools to get the job done.
“I fancy him against Usyk,” said Warren when speaking to IFLTV.
“I think he’s a big, big man. I fancy him. Look, Usyk is a very, very good fighter, But I fancied Daniel Dubois would give him a tough fight and he exposed him.
"He showed what we all know in the business because we know something about the business. We’re very good at guiding fighters, and I know that he struggles with shots to the body and that was shown. I’ve seen that in the past. He certainly won’t take the punch of this guy.”
